Like a moderately depressed iteration of the Bravery, I Love You But I'veChosen Darkness deliver a dance-friendly form of atmospheric synth-spinedindie pop that occasionally features drum claps not heard since Duran Durandanced on the sand with Rio. Together since 2001, they earned thepotentially stifling accolade of being "the band to play with" in theirhometown of Austin, Tex., in the course of refining their sound. Their debutfive-track EP, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, produced bySpoon's Britt Daniel, was a more pop-orientated affair, but the band movedinto darker territory with the Paul Barker-produced album Fear Is On OurSide, released on Secretly Canadian in 2006.
