After releasing the good but unremarkable Locales in 1998, Obie Bermudez took five years off from recording and ended up living in New York City. They must put something in the water; when Bermudez came out with Confesiones in 2003, he had toned down the salsa influences and embraced a gentle rock sound. The Latin pop world went crazy for "Antes," the first single.
