The colder realms of Europe have created some coldest music throughout the 1990s. From Bavaria, Christian Pallenin's p.a.l. has taken Industrial music into some of its most frigid territory. Spinning together brash Ambient, Technoise, and dry Electro, he creates structural sounds that sound like a collision of wet concrete, rusted rebar, and sheet metal. He does not create the psychedelic horrors of artists like Skinny Puppy, but post-EBM music that echoes the painful reality of late-capitalist alienation.
